Food is one of the many joys of the RV Life. Traveling opens up your food choices and options. RVs, Travel Trailers, and 5th Wheels allow you to have the conveniences of home kitchen on the open road. Here are some food related tips for RV Travelers.

  1. Lock it down
Your food will move around while you travel.
This can be dangerous and annoying. You don’t want to get to your destination just to find that you’re fruit is damaged, your cans made a dent on your floor, or have to rearrange your cabinets. Wedge things against each other so it’s packed tightly, use rods and bungee chords to keep it from moving around.
  2. How long will it take?
If you’re a weekend warrior, you are going to want to spend as much time as possible enjoying your RV Trip rather than spending it in the kitchen. Keep this in mind when planning meals and grocery shopping. This also goes for kitchen cleanup after a meal. Sometimes it’s ok to eat quick and easy meals for a weekend.
  1. Buy an RV with sufficient storage
If cooking is important to you, you’ll want to keep that in mind when you’re RV Shopping. Some units are designed for people to maximize their kitchen and cooking areas.
  2. Lightweight tableware is best
Paper and Plastic are lightweight and easy to clean up. If you are boondocking and need to conserve water usage paper plates and plastic silverware are the way to go.
  1. Keep an eye out for local food
When you visit an area you may want to dive into their culture. This includes eating local foods. Often there will be roadside stands or markets that are great for getting local food and fresh produce.
